Earthquake & Tsunami in Japan
All of us at Shiseido are deeply affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11th.
We extend our condolences to those whose lives have been shattered by these events.
As a company whose roots are firmly in Japan, we greatly appreciate the thoughts, prayers and support extended to our country by our friends all over the world.
Shiseido's Support & Contributions
Historically, SHISEIDO has always been conscious and active regarding its corporate social responsibility.
SHISEIDO has decided to make a monetary contribution (100,000,000 JPY) to be used as relief for the victims. We will also donate products needed by people in the stricken areas under the current circumstances.
SHISEIDO will continue to study the situation and make further donations as and when required.
SHISEIDO suggests making donations directly to external institutions such as the International Red Cross.

Safety Assurance of Our products
While these unprecedented incidents and concerns over the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has touched all of us, we would like to reassure our customers around the world that our products are safe and can be used with confidence.
Shiseido has collaborated with a third-party organization and no radiation has been detected. We will continue to conduct independent tests as needed as a continuation of our intense focus on safety.
On March 30th, the Japan Cosmetics Industry Association issued an official statement regarding recent events in Japan, in relation to the guaranteed safety of cosmetic products manufactured in Japan.
Product safety is our first priority. Shiseido manufactures under the very strict laws and guidelines of Japan's Pharmaceutical Affairs Law, which insists on world-leading safety standards. Together with the Japan Cosmetics Industry Association, we are working closely with the authorities, and taking appropriate steps to ensure that all our products are safe.
For more than 100 years, Shiseido's mission has been to improve people's lives through the use of cosmetics. Shiseido remains dedicated to this mission.

The European Cosmetics Association (COLIPA) ensured in a standby statement that as of March 25th "no cosmetic products from Japan have been indentified as having unacceptable radiation levels at the European Union's border controls."
